Network
       Architecture

The architectures that are commonly used for LAN’s (Local Area Network) are based on electrical wiring, although some of these architectures also support optical fiber as an alternative transmission medium. The traditional architectures, includes ARCnet, Ethernet, and Token Ring. The up-and-coming architectures are either high-speed variants of existing ones or new, fiber-based architectures.  The fiber-based architectures are also used for WAN’s (Wide Area Network).

WESTEK will ascertain what infrastructure already exist and determine the most appropriate network architecture and cabling scheme, which will give the network its characteristic topology and features, and determine the media (network) access method and packet format, to meet an organization needs and allows future growth.  Once the network architecture is determined, network design is the next step.
